![]() Although fans weren’t happy with the series’ finale cliffhangers, de la Cruz rectified that with her spinoff novel Triple Moon, which also includes a short story ending to the events of the show. Light and fun, this witchy romp is a nice counterpoint to other horror-driven and super-serious fantasy series. ![]() The show follows matriarch witch Joanna Beauchamp ( Julia Ormond), her sister ( Madchen Amick), and her daughters ( Jenna Dewan Tatum and Rachel Boston), who have no idea they’re magical. This short-lived Lifetime show based on the books by Melissa de la Cruz is like a soap opera about witches. The show premiered last summer, but no word yet on if or when it will be back for Season 2. In this origin story of sorts, we see Nimue learn about her magical powers and become the “Wolf-Blood Witch” after she kills a pack of attacking wolves. Medieval tales of King Arthur and Camelot conjure up legends of sorcerers and enchantresses, but this recent retelling has a twist: It focuses not on Arthur but on Nimue ( Katherine Langford), fated to become the mythical Lady of the Lake who protects the sword Excalibur. Blending historical drama with horror, the show had a strong fanbase, but only ran for three seasons on WGN-luckily, we can still watch on Hulu. One of them, Mary Sibley ( Janet Montgomery), plans to summon the Devil, until her long lost love ( Shane West) shows up to complicate things. But instead of showcasing the mob mentality of the crisis that led to the murders of 20 people, this show imagines that there were actual witches in Salem. Speaking of Salem, this series was inspired by the real Salem witch trials in 1692 Massachusetts.
